Fly Fishing
Lone Creek Lodge is the ideal base for a fly fishing trip to South Africa and boasts 200 metres of nearby river frontage, brimming with rainbow and brown trout. The Sabie Trout Angling Club stocks 7 kilometres (4.3 miles) of the Sabie River with trout and supplement the natural breeding population of the river. This region of the Sabie River is possibly the best river for fly fishing in Mpumalanga.
Sightseeing
Sabie and the surrounding areas are renowned for its sparkling mountain streams and beautiful waterfalls such as Lone Creek, Bridal Veil, Mac Mac and Forest Falls. Other scenic wonders of the area include Bourke's Luck Potholes, the Blyde River Canyon, God's Window and the Long Tom Pass.
Horse riding
Enjoy an afternoon of riding through the forests along the Sabie River on horse back. Experienced guides will accompany you on all rides, who will teach you more about the history and ecology of the area. Horses are well trained and groomed and are ideal for this type of riding.
Bird watching
The evergreen forests and grasslands of Sabie is home to an abundance of bird life including the elusive Bush Blackcap, the endangered Blue Swallow and the beautiful Narina Trogon.
Hikes and walks
Sabie offers a number of hiking trails, from short and pleasant, to long and grueling. For a relaxing and tranquil experience, there are a few delightful walks along the Sabie River or through the lush Sabie forests.
Tube riding
For the more adventurous, a ride on the Sabie River on a tube is just the thing for you.
Mountain biking
The forests around Sabie are perfect for mountain biking and a number of popular biking events are held around Sabie, including Sabie Classic, Forest-2-Falls, Sabie Experience and Noon to Moon. A far less tiring experience is the 7 kilometre (4.3 mile) ride on level tarred road from the lodge to Lone Creek Falls.
Golf
The Sabie Country Club offers a small but challenging 9 hole course. There are a number of other golf courses within an hour's drive from Sabie.
Hot Air Ballooning
