Carryblaire River Retreat is a South Africa accommodation that is only an hour's drive from Johannesburg and nestled on the banks of the Vaal River near Parys. With its own natural island and being a registered bird sanctuary, the views offered at this South Africa accommodation are breathtaking and some of the most beautiful in Africa.
This South Africa accommodation is located in Parys, a small and vibrant town in South Africa. It lies on the banks of the Vaal River 120km south of Johannesburg. Parys offers visitors a variety of attractions, ranging from browsing wonderful antique shops and art galleries to adventure sporting.
Parys itself is situated inside the Vredefort Dome, which is the remains of an ancient crater. The crater was formed 2000 million years ago when a meteorite as big as Table Mountain struck the earth. The crater was about 90km in diameter with the centre of impact near Vredefort. The Vredefort Dome area received World Heritage Site status in August 2005.
